Artful Ramblings
Question: Does anyone listen to music while they write/read RPs?

I listen to music without lyrics, but the combo of Rainy Mood/The Fragrance of Dark Coffee is getting old and I’m kind of memorizing the movements of the music so it’s kind of sounding to start like lyrics. Does anyone have any suggestions for new music to listen to?

I know this is a weird suggestion, but basically everything from any Homestuck album is great to listen to! It’s almost all instrumental and each album has a unique sound/mood so it’s easy to find one that suits your tastes and the RP you’re working on. You can listen HERE! My favorite albums are both Colors and Mayhem albums, The Wanderers, and Homestuck vol. 9 and vol. 5 .

To be honest, I was going to buy the entire store one day, because I think all of the tracks I’ve listened to in Homestuck are fucking amazing.

Depends on the mood. I like a lot of metal, but new age, classical, and video game music of all kinds work their way into my RP listenings - everything from Gamma Ray to Lesiem to soundtracks. Homestuck music is also clearly awesome on toast.

My current song of choice is Holy Ghost by In Tenebris - writing a completely psychotic (female) (necromancer) villain. I will generally try to find a song that fits a character or a scene, and as such, many of my characters have specific themes. I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

Incidentally, NEVER leave your music player on shuffle in an intense scene. Your next song will inevitably be Caramelldansen or Gangnam Style or something. Audio whiplash!
